Following the completion of our first ‘Community Rail Trail’ from Wigan to Bolton, we were pleased to host two launch events in May and June 2023 o We first walked from Bolton to Lostock Station for our ‘Bolton Launch’ in May, returning on the train for refreshments in our Community Room on Platform 5 at Bolton Station
The shortly after in June we held a ‘Wigan Launch’ walking from Westhoughton Station to The Swan & Railway Pub in Wigan, again ending with a brilliant buffet courtesy of landlady Shelley.
Another event is also planned for August to celebrate the reopening of Hindley Station, walking from Wigan North Western to The Edington Arms with of course another buffet to finish!
We are pleased that the ‘Community Rail Trail’ is now also being used regularly by other community groups including ‘BeWell’ run by Wigan Council and we hope to organise more guided walk events on the trail in the near future
